Aamavata or Rheumatoid Arthritis is a commonly found diseases these days. If your joints are stiff and painful when you get out of bed in the morning, and the pain goes away after 30 to 35 minutes after your morning routine, then you are most likely to have rheumatism.  This is disease that affects the immune system. Women are 5 to 6 times more likely to develop rheumatism than men, and people between the ages of 40 and 60 are more likely to be affected by this disease. Many women suffer from this disease after the age of forty, because of that. Joint pain that is mild at first can turn into severe rheumatic pain, and daily activities can become painful and difficult. The immune system of the human body is responsible for fighting many diseases and keeping the body disease-free and resisting any disease. Symptoms and diseases like cold, cough, and stomach ache appear frequently on the body if immunity is reduced due to any reason. The immune system of the body can start working against its own cells when it starts working in opposite directions. Many cells and organs of the body come under the influence of the impaired Immune System and some diseases occur due to their function being impaired. One of those diseases is gout or Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Ayurvedic View about Rheumatoid Arhtritis-         According to Ayurveda, Agnimandya (Slow digestive fire) and vata vitiation are the main causes of this disease. Swelling, pain, warmth, and redness in the joints are the main symptoms of gout. In the knee, hip joint, spine joint, wrist or finger joint, these symptoms can start. The disease begins in the digestive system, according to the Ayurvedic texts. Slow gastric fire converts food into 'Aama' which is also called toxins if it is not properly digested. Aam is food juice that is partially digested. When the food is partially or half digested, Ama is formed in the body, and only then if the vata is also vitiated for some reason, it spreads this ama poison throughout the body and this ama continues to accumulate in some parts of the body. When such a aama is accumulated in the large joints and in the small joints, it interferes with the function of these joints, and the symptoms like pain, swelling, redness and heat of the joint are seen. Both Aam and Vata combine to damage the Cartilage cells and wear down the bones in this. There are genetic factors that could be responsible for this. Women are six times more likely to be affected by the disease than men.   Symptoms of Aamavata( Rheumatoid Arthritis):- - Pain and swelling in the joints (knees, elbows, wrists, finger joints), Ayurvedic texts have compared the pain in the chronic stage of rheumatism to a scorpion sting. - Sensation of heat in joints. Such joints cannot even be touched by hands. - Stiffness and pain in the body and joints after waking up in the morning - Stiffness and pain in the morning subsided for a while, and moderate pain in the afternoon increases again at night. - Slenderness, crookedness and deformity in wrists and fingers. - Insomnia, fatigue, lack of enthusiasm to do any work, sleepiness during the day and sleeplessness at night are also symptoms of rheumatism. Why rheumatism occurs- According to modern science, the reason for this is still not known, a sudden abnormal immune system is the reason for this disease, but according to some scientists, some bacteria can also cause this disease. Also genetic factors in the body are also responsible for this disease. According to Ayurveda, 'Aam' products (toxins) are produced in the body due to depression of fire and wrong food habits and this Aam accumulates in the joints of the body along with increased vata and causes swelling, pain and other symptoms. Ayurvedic Treatment of Rheyumatoid Arthritis depends on the condition, deterioration and health of the person. Treatment of this disease in Vata Prakriti is more difficult than in other Pitta and Kapha Prakriti. In the first stage of treatment, the Jatharagni is ignited in the body using Dipan and digestive medicine. This improves digestion by giving strength to the digestive system and prevents the formation of ama in the body and also digests the accumulated ama in the body. Local panchakarma procedure or fomentation is performed for inflammation located in the joints.        Improving digestion stops the formation of ama and then Ayurvedic pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs are used, some anti-inflammatory drugs are also used to control irritable vata. Also some external treatments like Drvasveda, Pindasveda, Upanah, Patrapottali sveda etc. are done for local vata and swelling. Along with this, the strength of immunity is also increased. After this, defecation is done by lubrication and perspiration. After treatment in this phase, the pain and stiffness in the joints are completely reduced.        In the third and final stage of treatment, treatment is done to prevent recurrence of the disease. After these treatments, all the symptoms of the patients disappear and they can lead a normal life.
